Years of travel and busking have lent grit and tenacity to Eliza Thorn’s songwriting, honing a penchant for a tongue-in-cheek delivery and vulnerable storytelling. With a haymaker voice and razor sharp wit, her magnetic croon has been charming listeners since the release of her debut album, ‘Somebody New’, September of 2024.

‘Somebody New’ is an homage to years of heartbreak, fever dream tales from the road, and emotional catharsis. Alongside producer, accomplished musician and songwriter; Mose Wilson, the pair included contemporary country’s star session players. Sitting in the Top 50 for Americana Radio and Top 10 for the Alt Country Specialty Chart, the momentum from her first release was exceptional, having shared stages with Margo Price, Emily Nenni and Robert Earl Keen. 

Thorn spent her formative years as a roadrunner, likely contributing to her unique range of influences. From New Orleans doo-wop to Texas soul and 60s rock and roll - there is a cohesive thread running through an intriguing sonic palette. She tips the proverbial hat to her idols, spanning from Billie Holiday to Shannon Shaw and Howlin’ Wolf. Her melodic, punchy, and classic songwriting style cherishes traditional elements while proudly showcasing a fresh approach, hailed by fans and critics alike. She demonstrates depth and control as a singer far beyond her years, skilfully moving between warm vibrato to an uninhibited, soulful belt. 

Behind the scenes, she is working to grow and redefine her sound with new collaborators and new music. Splitting her time between Austin TX and Nashville TN, Eliza is bright-eyed and steadfast in her mission, continuing to tour steadily through barrooms and theatres, comfortably entertaining in both raucous honky tonks and listening rooms. Drawing inspiration from 70s outlaw country and Phil Spector’s signature wall of sound, Thorn teases at a “Link Wray meets Waylon” release slated for 2027.
